Jakarta-Cikampek II Elevated Expressway
BarChip Fibre Reinforced Linking Slabs
BarChip48 Is Reinforcing the Self-Compacting Concrete Link-Slabs on the Longest Overpass in Indonesia.
The Jakarta Cikampek II Elevated Toll Road (JAPEK) is a 36.8 km elevated expressway that extends from Cikunir, Bekasi, to Karawang in West Java, Indonesia. The road is built above the existing Jakarta-Cikampek toll road and was designed to ease traffic congestion within the Greater Jakarta area.
JAPEK is the longest overpass in Indonesia, and the longest double decker expressway in Southeast Asia. It’s also the first expressway in Indonesia to incorporate macro synthetic fibre reinforced concrete in the roadway design. The design called for a fibre reinforced concrete solution to reduce micro cracking and increase concrete ductility in the link-slabs. To eliminate any risk of corrosion and add durability to the structure, the design team specified macro synthetic fibre.
The specification called for a minimum performance of 3.5 MPa at f600 and 2.6 MPa at f150 in accordance with ASTM C1609. Competitive trials were carried out by Puslitbang Jalan dan Jembatan (PUSJATAN). BarChip48 macro synthetic fibre delivered the highest performance, best mixing and the most economical solution during trials and was subsequently specified in the link- slabs.
The link-slabs used a 40 MPa self-compacting concrete mix, with a dose rate of 6 kg/m3 of BarChip48 high performance fibre. JAPEK highlights the versatility of BarChip fibre reinforced concrete and was made possible by the forward thinking stakeholders and the dedication of BarChip agents
